Easter baskets are for kids of all ages, from toddlers to senior citizens. Most children look forward to awakening on Easter Sunday to find the gift from the Easter Bunny, most often an Easter basket. However, the Easter basket can deliver lasting memories to the kid in all of us.

Youngsters generally expect to find a supply of chocolate in the form of milk chocolate Easter Bunnies or crème filled chocolate eggs. Creative parents can build a basket around a theme by placing a small stuffed animal in the midst of the candy rabbits and candy eggs. The stuffed animal will last long after the chocolate goodies have been consumed.

As children reach school age parents may wish to fulfill a child's dream by placing a kitten or a puppy the child has been wishing for in a basket. After all Easter is the first symbol of spring and what better time to present a child with the pet they desire. For years live rabbits and small colored chicks have been an Easter basket gift. However, parents should recognize that most children lose interest in chicks as they mature and rabbits may not be suitable for some children. Over the years pups and kittens have become more favorable for some families.

Teenagers often feel they have outgrown the Easter Bunny and Easter Baskets. Yet, the delight on a teenager's face when he discovers the new belt or a new wallet is unmistakable. Or, the look on the teenage girl's face when she finds a special piece of jewelry hidden inside a plastic egg is undeniable. Maybe it is time to hide a set of car keys inside a plastic egg for the young driver.

What better way to say "I love you" to a spouse or significant other than to surprise him or her with an Easter basket? Valentine's Day is often a matter of flowers or a heart shaped box of chocolates for loved ones, but with a little creativity the Easter basket can be as romantic. Think of placing an engagement ring inside an egg with a note saying "Will you marry me?" Or, perhaps a pair of tickets to his favorite NASCAR event will let him know you care. Add a little something special to an Easter basket and it will bring out the kid in your loved one.

Remember all the times the Easter Bunny brought you a special basket? This could be the year to have an Easter basket sent to your favorite Easter Bunny. Your parents will appreciate being remembered. Add a picture of your family or a snapshot of yourself with your parents when you were a child. Think of the memories your parents will recall as they think back over Easters past.

Grandparents are the most overlooked on Easter, at least as far as Easter baskets go. Do not forget them this Easter. It has been years since they received a basket filled with chocolates or their favorite wines or maybe a selection of cheeses.

Easter baskets create smiles for kids of all ages.
